Day 2 was certainly an exciting day at the 6th World Junior Championships 2016 as Team Singapore earned its fair share of medals.
From the morning session, Cindy Lim clinched a Silver medal in the Girls' 42-Form Taijijian B Taolu and Kassandra Ong also won a Silver medal in the Girls Gunshu C event.
Cindy then went on to win a Gold medal in the Girls' 42-form Taijiquan B for Team Singapore in the afternoon session, making her the most bemedalled athlete in Team Singapore for this competition currently. Congratulations, Cindy, for this outstanding performance!
We would also like to congratulate Team Singapore for an excellent showing in the competition so far, bagging 2 Gold medals and 2 Silver medals in total!
The atmosphere for the afternoon session proved to be intense as four athletes from Team Singapore were competing in their events, two of which, were our Xuan athletes, Randall Lim and Nicholas Ngooi.
Randall was placed 8th in the Boys Nanquan B event and Nicholas was placed 7th in the Boys Changquan C event. No podium finish for Xuan athletes today but we do feel that they have much to learn and benefit from this competition. As Martin Luther King, Jr. once said, 'The ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands in moments of comfort and convenience, but where he stands at times of challenge and controversy.' We do have faith that Randall and Nicholas will manage their emotions over this challenge and look forward to better their performances in tomorrow's competition. Like they say, it's ain't over till the fat lady sings. We shall cheer loudly for them from wherever we are!
Tomorrow will be the final day of the 6th World Junior Wushu Championships. Let's hope for the best for all our athletes. Stay tuned to find out!
